A fender flare is traditionally used to make the fender wider on off-road vehicles. Also known as “wheel arch extensions” they basically extend the factory fender wider on a 4x4 truck to cover tire and wheel packages that are too large to fit within the body of the truck. Without the fender flares, these oversized tires would stick out wider than the body of the truck, which is illegal in most places.

Fender flares are also very useful for covering up rusty fenders. It is much cheaper to install Jungle Fender Flares than to get body work and a new paint job. Depending on the model, these will cover anywhere from 4 - 6 inches of your fender.
